Healthy Eating

When we eat healthy, we feel better. But it’s not always easy to do.

Our region struggles with “food deserts” — neighborhoods where most meal options are high-fat, high-calorie fare from convenience stores and fast food restaurants.

The Healthy Eating programs, classes and resources offered through Get Healthy, Live Well are dedicated to ensuring that residents of west Georgia and east Alabama have greater access to a bountiful variety of fresh, nutritious food.

Healthy Eating Programs

From community gardens and farmers’ markets to expert-led healthy cooking classes, Get Healthy, Live Well offers programs to help you achieve your goals for healthier eating (with a healthy dose of local fruits and vegetables). View our Healthy Eating programs.

At Tanner, learning about healthy eating is both fun — and filling! We offer expert-led classes and workshops to help people of all ages make fresh, healthy food choices and learn how to best nourish their bodies. Explore our classes and events.

Southeast Emerges as Prime Destination for Seniors

Each day, about 10,000 baby boomers turn age 65 — a trend that will continue for the next decade. By 2030, all baby boomers will be at least 65 years old, making up a significant portion of the population. This unprecedented growth in the senior population is creating a nationwide demand for quality senior living options. Tanner Health has responded to both national and local needs with its development of The Birches.
