Price Transparency

In compliance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) hospital price transparency guidelines, effective July 1, 2024, Tanner Medical Center Inc. provides links for patients seeking personalized estimates and machine-readable files (MRF) for each of our hospital facilities.

Tanner empathizes with patients trying to understand hospital charging and patient balances. When searching for a hospital estimate there are many pricing factors such as knowing the correct charge code, insurance individual coverage and benefit levels, and contractual or uninsured discount amounts that make obtaining an accurate estimate extremely difficult.

The good news is at Tanner, price transparency regulations and technology are making hospital charge estimates easier to obtain. Tanner offers a Price Estimator Tool within Epic’s Tanner MyChart app for personalized estimates. The tool utilizes Tanner hospital charging information comparing it to specific patient benefits to provide the best individualized estimate. If enrolled in Tanner MyChart, please use the Tanner Epic MyChart app to create a personalized estimate. If not enrolled or do not have access to the app, please access the price estimator tool hosted on Epic's website.

Tanner provides medically necessary services to patients regardless of their ability to pay. However, estimates that are more than expected or unaffordable may cause a patient to want to delay care. We strongly encourage patients not to delay care because of an estimated amount. We have a team of financial counselors who can talk you through our options. Speak to one of our team members by calling 770-812-5795. Tanner’s variety of payment options include flexible monthly payment plans, financing, screening for Medicare/Medicaid eligibility for uninsured patients, and a financial assistance program for uninsured and insured patients, and more.

In compliance with CMS, our machine-readable files are in the format required by CMS and are meant to be read by programs or analytical tools. Therefore, these files are not ideal for personalized estimates and should not be used as such. Patients seeking an estimate should use the price estimator tool as previously mentioned.
