Tanner Health Receives 2025 Georgia Hospital Association Community Leadership Award

Tanner Health has been named the recipient of the 2025 Community Leadership Award by Georgia Hospital Association (GHA), recognizing its outstanding contributions to improve health and well-being across west Georgia and east Alabama.

GHA Community Leadership reception“We’re honored to be recognized by GHA for our leadership in community health,” said Loy Howard, president and CEO of Tanner Health. “This award highlights the innovative work our teams are doing to meet local health needs and build a healthier future for our region.”

Established in 1997, the GHA Community Leadership Award recognizes a GHA-member hospital that demonstrates exemplary leadership in community health improvement through innovative programs, collaborative partnerships and measurable impact.

This award, which is presented annually at the GHA Summer Meeting, highlights Tanner’s success in creating sustainable health initiatives that foster stronger connections between the organization and the communities it serves. The GHA selection committee highlighted Tanner’s measurable impact and applauded its efforts to provide area residents with health education and support services.

Central to these efforts is Get Healthy, Live Well, a community health collaborative led by Tanner and steered by a coalition of local businesses, educational institutions, community groups and faith-based organizations. This program works to prevent chronic disease and improve the quality of life for area residents by reducing health disparities in underserved populations, improving nutrition and access to nutritious foods, eliminating tobacco use, increasing physical activity and more.

Tanner also prioritizes behavioral health care through its Willowbrooke at Tanner facilities, expanding access to mental health and substance use services and integrating behavioral health into its overall community health strategy. Additional achievements include helping other companies advance employee well-being through a successful corporate wellness program, providing financial assistance and training to local students, partnering with law enforcement and maintaining strong relationships with non-profits and civic groups.

“Tanner Health’s successful community programs have played a significant role in improving the health and wellness of community residents,” said GHA president and CEO Caylee Noggle. “We applaud their dedication to providing important resources that are helping to advance healthcare, and we are pleased to present them with this esteemed award.”

As a GHA member, Tanner Health remains focused on advancing health equity, access and quality care across the region.
