Healing Arts

How we heal the body at Tanner Health System is only part of the story. The mind and spirit often require healing, too. That’s where the healing arts come in, providing mental and spiritual nourishment through soothing music and art showcased in soaring spaces filled with light.

Harmony for Healing

Tanner’s Harmony for Healing music therapy program, funded by generous donations to Tanner Foundation, uses music to address the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of all who stop by for a listen — from patients and visitors to physicians and staff.

Talented local performers utilize Tanner’s Steinway grand piano, as well as their own vocal talents and personal musical instruments, to create delightful performances in the John H. Burson III, MD, Atrium on a monthly schedule.

The power of art

In Tanner hospitals and our newest medical office buildings, walls of glass, soaring skyward, allow natural sunlight to flood open and spacious public areas like atriums and rotundas. Water features like fountains and a fish and turtle habitat bring the natural healing qualities of moving water into the patient care setting.

Wall art

Along with our inspiring architecture, we’ve embraced the healing power of art. Our hospitals are fortunate to have a collection of art that would be the envy of any collector — with many pieces made specifically to hang in this hospital by talented artists of regional and national renown.
