Liposuction

Depending on your goals, our team at West Georgia Center for Plastic Surgery may suggest liposuction, or lipoplasty, during your initial consultation.

What is liposuction?

Liposuction is a type of fat removal used in plastic surgery to slim and reshape areas of your body where fat deposits have not responded to diet and exercise. During a lipoplasty, those deposits are removed from the target areas, improving contour and proportion.

The advantage of liposuction is that it can often be done in one treatment, and all of the fat cells removed during treatment are gone forever.

What can liposuction be used to treat?

Liposuction can be performed — alone or with other plastic surgery procedures — to treat your:

  • Abdomen and waist
  • Buttocks
  • Back
  • Calves and ankles
  • Chest area
  • Cheeks, chin and neck
  • Inner knee
  • Hips
  • Upper arms

While the results for liposuction can be amazing for both men and women, please keep in mind that liposuction is not a weight loss solution. It cannot be used as a treatment for obesity or as a substitute for a proper diet and exercise. It also is not a treatment for cellulite or loose, sagging skin.

What does liposuction cost?

Liposuction is considered a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by insurance. Fee quotes are given at the time of consultation and begin at $4,725 for the first area treated, with approximately $1,500 for each additional area (depending on what additional procedures may be required). This includes the physician charge, facility fee, anesthesia fee, pre-operative visit, post-operative visits for up to three months, dressings and garments.

Braces and Splints for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Braces and Splints for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

From intricate art creations to work-related tasks to those everyday repetitive motions of scrolling through your phone — our hands do more delicate work than we realize. While most of these activities seem relatively safe, they can actually lead to the development of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS).

Members of the Caregiving Cycle: The Family Caregivers

Acting as a caregiver for a family member can be a rewarding experience, allowing you to spend time and care for someone you love. Caregiving covers a range of situations from those who just need a little extra help caring for themselves to those who are undergoing things such as surgery recovery, cancer treatment and terminal illness. No matter what your role is, one important factor that is often overlooked is who takes care of the caregiver.
