Cardiac Calcium Scoring

Tanner Heart Care has powerful tools that help doctors diagnose heart disease before you have a cardiac event. One of these tools is a procedure called a cardiac calcium score.

How the cardiac calcium score works

When you have calcification in your arteries — known as atherosclerosis or coronary artery disease (CAD) — it narrows the arteries that supply oxygen-rich blood to your heart. This puts you at risk for a heart attack.

Cardiac calcium scoring, also called coronary calcium score, relies on computer tomography (referred to as a CT or CAT scan), which uses X-rays and a powerful computer to generate clear images of your bones, internal organs, soft tissue and blood vessels. A CT allows your doctor to see if you have calcification in your coronary arteries and, if so, how much.

A negative cardiac calcium score means you do not have calcification. A positive score means you may need more diagnostic tests or interventions to prevent a potentially serious heart attack.

Schedule Your Screening

A few simple questions can help you determine if a cardiac calcium score is right for you. The screenings are available for just $99.

Call Tanner Central Scheduling at 770-812-9721 to schedule your cardiac calcium screening at in Carrollton, Villa Rica, Bremen or Wedowee.

Why choose Tanner for heart care?

If you have risk factors — such as a family history of heart disease or high cholesterol — talk to your doctor about whether a cardiac calcium score procedure is right for you. Tanner has advanced tools for diagnosing heart problems and experienced board-certified cardiologists to guide your treatment.
