Tanner Receives ECCC Designations from Georgia DPH

Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton and Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica have been awarded Level I and Level II Emergency Cardiac Care Center (ECCC) designations by the Georgia Department of Public Health Office of EMS and Trauma.

Healthcare organizations seeking ECCC designation from the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) undergo a comprehensive evaluation process, including a site inspection and assessment of emergency cardiac care processes and equipment.

"This recognition acknowledges the hard work and dedication of our team in delivering exceptional emergency cardiac care to our patients," said Loy Howard, president and CEO of Tanner Health. "We remain committed to positively impacting the health and well-being of our community."

Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of death in Georgia and Alabama — but it’s also one of the most preventable. By helping to prevent cardiovascular disease, Tanner is working to improve health outcomes across the region to reduce the hospitalizations, deaths and disabilities caused by heart disease and other cardiac conditions.

In 2017, legislation was enacted in Georgia to establish the Office of Cardiac Care at the Georgia DPH. The office aims to improve survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrests and heart attacks by implementing evidence-based guidelines and benchmarking.

"This designation reflects the accomplishments and capabilities of our team," Howard said. "It assures our community that we are able to provide quality, comprehensive heart care to patients throughout the region."
