Class/Event Description:

Every 40 seconds, someone has a stroke in the U.S. And the sooner treatment begins, the better.

A stroke is a medical emergency where blood flow to parts of the brain is cut off. This can lead to permanent brain damage, long-term disability or even death. Risk factors like heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and smoking can put you at greater risk of having a stroke, but 80% of strokes are preventable.

Join board-certified emergency medicine physician Timothy Thomas, DO, with Carrollton Emergency Physicians, for a free online webinar about the different types of strokes, how they are diagnosed and treated, and how to reduce your risk. Dr. Thomas will also cover why it’s vital to act “F.A.S.T” to recognize the warning signs and how quick, quality care can help reduce the long-term effects of stroke and decrease the costs associated with treatment.
