Wound Care

What We Offer

Chronic wounds are wounds that don’t heal or significantly improve in about four weeks. These stubborn wounds can affect your quality of life.

Without treatment, wounds can lead to infection and even amputation. Tanner Advanced Wound Care has the training and techniques to help you heal.

Types of chronic wounds

Among the types of chronic wounds you may experience are:

  • Diabetic wounds
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Venous stasis ulcers
  • Arterial ulcers
  • Vasculitic ulcers
  • Surgical wounds
  • Complex soft tissue wounds
  • Infected wounds

Diabetes and wound care

You’re more likely to need specialized wound care if you have diabetes. Diabetes affects your vascular system, limiting how much oxygen-rich blood reaches damaged tissues.

Without oxygen, damaged tissues not only take longer to heal but may also begin to die. This increases the risk for infection and amputation.

Healing Wounds with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a powerful treatment for chronic wounds. The treatment saturates your tissues with oxygen, helping wounds heal.

While you relax in a pressurized chamber, you breathe 100% pure oxygen. The oxygen floods your system, supplying your tissues with the oxygen they need to heal.

Who benefits from hyperbaric oxygen therapy?

You may benefit from HBOT if you have:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers - If you have diabetes, you’re more likely to need specialized wound care if you have diabetes. Diabetes affects your vascular system, limiting how much oxygen-rich blood reaches damaged tissues. Without oxygen, damaged tissues not only take longer to heal but may also begin to die. This increases the risk for infection and amputation.
  • Refractor osteomyelitis
  • Osteoradionecrosis
  • Soft tissue radionecrosis
  • Skin grafts or flaps that are not healing correctly (compromised)

Not everyone who needs wound care requires hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Your wound care doctor will discuss the treatment regimen that’s right for you.
