West Georgia Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology

West Georgia Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology offers expert care to help patients manage chronic diseases and live long, healthy lives.

Taking control of diabetes

Diabetes can be hard to manage and harder to understand.

Endocrinologists specialize in the hormones that impact your health — including the glands like the pancreas that produce insulin and affect your body’s ability to process sugar and make energy.

Through monitoring, medication management and one-on-one education, West Georgia Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology helps patients and their loved ones understand diabetes, the choices that affect it, the medications that manage it and more.

Without proper care, diabetes can lead to amputation, blindness, heart disease, stroke and other serious conditions, making the right care essential to overall health.

Diagnosing and managing endocrine ailments

The endocrine system is a system of glands that produce and manage hormones in the body.

Hormones function as chemical “messengers,” traveling through the cells and affecting the way other organs work.

A skilled endocrinologist can work with patients to understand their metabolic system — including why changes in their diet isn’t leading to weight loss. They can help men manage hormone concerns that impact sexual health, diagnose and treat thyroid disease — including hyperthyroidism, or overactive thyroids that can cause unexplained weight loss — and more.

Often, when traditional treatments from other specialists fail, patients will be referred to an endocrinologist for further evaluation to determine if hormone disorders are playing a role.
