Shazib Khawaja, MD, FACC, FSCAI, FSVM, a board-certified cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology specialist with Tanner Heart & Vascular Specialists, has been ranked among the metro region’s best in interventional cardiology for the 16th consecutive year.
The July 2025 issue of Atlanta magazine features Dr. Khawaja — who is also chief of interventional cardiology and chair of heart and vascular services at Tanner Health — on its 2025 Top Docs List. Dr. Khawaja is profiled in the issue on page 190. His consistent annual recognitions continue to earn praise from his esteemed colleagues across metro Atlanta.
Atlanta magazine’s list of top doctors, based on a peer-review survey of Atlanta-area physicians conducted by Professional Research Services (PRS), a Troy, Michigan-based firm, contains more than 1,300 top doctors. More than 10,000 votes were cast honoring excellence in all fields of medicine. Atlanta magazine was not involved in the process and doctors cannot pay to be considered or selected for this list.
Dr. Khawaja earned his medical degree from the University of South Alabama. After completing a residency in internal medicine at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York, Dr. Khawaja completed a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical School and an interventional cardiology subspecialty fellowship at the University of Minnesota/Minneapolis Heart Institute. Dr. Khawaja also received advanced training in peripheral vascular interventions at the Arizona Heart Institute.
He practices at Tanner Heart & Vascular Specialists, with offices in Carrollton, Villa Rica and Bremen, Georgia, and in Wedowee, Alabama.
