Grant Fuels Expansion of Get Healthy, Live Well in East Alabama

Tanner Medical Foundation has been awarded a grant of over $16,000 from the Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama’s Stringfellow Health Fund. This grant will enable Tanner Health’s Get Healthy, Live Well initiative to expand its offerings and deepen its impact in east Alabama.

Get Healthy, Live Well — a comprehensive community health collaborative led by Tanner — has worked diligently since 2012 to provide community members in west Georgia and east Alabama with the resources needed to live healthier lifestyles.

“We’ve already made great strides in both west Georgia and east Alabama, increasing access to health resources, enhancing education and fostering a stronger focus on prevention and wellness,” said Tonya Fulks, outreach operations manager for Get Healthy, Live Well. “This new funding will help us build on that foundation and bring even more programs and services to the communities we serve in east Alabama.”

The grant funds will be used to:

  • Launch outpatient nutrition counseling and diabetes self-management education programs.
  • Expand online health and nutrition education classes.
  • Offer community health screenings to underserved populations.
  • Increase awareness of health information and services.
  • Build and strengthen partnerships at the local, regional and statewide levels.

“We are very grateful for the support provided by this grant. It not only strengthens our Get Healthy, Live Well initiative, but also allows us to expand and enrich the care we offer through Tanner Medical Group and Tanner Medical Center/East Alabama,” said Heather Stitcher, administrator of Tanner Medical Center/East Alabama. “By advancing our mission, we are driving meaningful, positive change and paving the way for a healthier, more vibrant community.”

With the help of generous community partners and volunteers, Get Healthy, Live Well continues to help make our communities a healthier place to live, learn, work and play. Learn more about Tanner Health’s Get Healthy, Live Well programming at www.tanner.org/get-healthy-live-well.
