Higgins General Hospital, part of Tanner Health, has achieved a first for the state of Georgia and nationwide: becoming the only hospital with an engineering team fully staffed by professionals holding either Certified Healthcare Facility Technician (CHFT) or Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) credentials from Institute for Healthcare Facilities Engineering Advancement (IHFEA) or The American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) respectively.

Through a new three-year agreement with The Birches on Maple, a 55+ living community developed in partnership with Tanner Health, the University of West Georgia will offer residents meaningful cultural experiences, educational programming and new ways to engage with the institution.

At Tanner Medical Center Villa Rica's emergency department, an on-call neurologist and two other physicians quickly suspected Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) — a rare autoimmune disorder in which the body's immune system attacks the nerves, often triggered by an earlier illness like the stomach bug Helton experienced.
