Webinar Overview

According to the American Counseling Association and National Association for Social Workers, specialized training and supervision are required before engaging in counseling in any specialty area. Therefore, without formal training in ethical and evidence-based trauma mental health practice, counselors are at risk for practicing outside the bounds of their clinical competency.

This experiential training has been developed to meet the ACA and NASW requirements for ethical and competency-based trauma mental health practice.

As a result of this training, participants will demonstrate a trauma-informed attitude and foundational trauma knowledge including the ethical practice of competency-based trauma mental health.

Webinar Objectives and Agenda

  • 9 a.m. to noon (includes a 15-minute break) - Participants will explore the current literature on the ethical practice of competency-based trauma mental health.
  • Noon to 1 p.m. – Lunch break
  • 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (includes a 15-minute break) - Participants will learn protective strategies for use in the session to ensure the emotional safety of both the client and clinician.
  • 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. - Participants will demonstrate a trauma-informed attitude and foundational trauma knowledge including the ethical practice of competency-based trauma mental health.
