Joint Commission Accreditation

Tanner Health System is proud to be accredited by The Joint Commission, one of the nation’s leading healthcare accrediting organizations for quality and safety.

Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton, Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica, Higgins General Hospital in Bremen and Willowbrooke at Tanner — as well as our home health and hospice programs —earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval, which serves as a nationally recognized symbol of quality and reflects our commitment to meeting certain performance standards. And our newest hospital, Tanner Medical Center/East Alabama in Wedowee, is accredited by the Alabama Department of Community Health.

To achieve accreditation, each facility or program must complete a rigorous unannounced on-site survey during which a team of expert surveyors reviews compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.

Accreditation is a voluntary process that demonstrates our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient safety. Tanner Health System facilities and programs accredited by The Joint Commission include:
