Tanner Offering Free Class on Chronic Sports Injuries



From tennis elbow to runner’s knee, sports injuries are common. One wrong move can cut your season short.

Living with the effects of a sports injury can leave a lasting impact not only on one’s ability, but also one’s health, keeping you from enjoying your life to the fullest.

If you’re ready to move past the pain and get back in the game, join Shomari Ruffin, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist with Carrollton Orthopaedic Clinic, as he discusses options for a lasting solution.Shomari Ruffin, MD

Dr. Ruffin’s discussion, A Solution to Chronic Sports Injuries, will cover treatment for a range of sports-related injuries and the latest and most leading-edge treatment options available at Tanner — including surgical and non-surgical options.

The session will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. in Classrooms A and B at Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica, 601 Dallas Highway. The class is free to attend. Seating is limited, and registration is required. Light refreshments will be served.

Dr. Ruffin is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist with Carrollton Orthopaedic Clinic. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine’s Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation in Jacksonville. He also completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute at Lemak Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in Birmingham. He holds bachelor’s degrees in biology and psychology from the University of Georgia in Athens and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
