Mena Louis, DO, a board-certified general surgeon with advanced fellowship training in gastrointestinal and minimally invasive surgery, has joined Carrollton Surgical Group to provide advanced surgical care and foregut procedures for patients throughout west Georgia.
Dr. Louis earned his degree in osteopathic medicine from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York. He completed his general surgery residency at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and an advanced GI/minimally invasive surgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins University-Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. His fellowship training included advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery, foregut surgery, complex hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction, and therapeutic endoscopy.
His clinical practice includes general surgery as well as evaluation and treatment of GERD and acid reflux, hiatal and paraesophageal hernias, achalasia and other esophageal disorders, abdominal wall and inguinal hernias, gallbladder disease and other gastrointestinal surgical conditions. He has expertise in minimally invasive and robotic approaches designed to reduce surgical trauma and support a more efficient recovery.
Dr. Louis has a special interest in comprehensive foregut care and works closely with gastroenterologists and other specialists to evaluate patients before recommending surgery, providing each patient with a personalized treatment plan.
In addition to patient care, Dr. Louis is actively involved in surgical research and education, with numerous peer-reviewed publications addressing general surgery, gastrointestinal disease, minimally invasive surgery and surgical outcomes.
