Baby in a NICU bed

A neonatal intensive care unit, or NICU provides, advanced, around-the-clock care to medically fragile newborns. Among the babies served by the Sally and John Francis Tanner Neonatal ICU are:

  • Babies born before 32 weeks of gestation
  • Babies born with critical illness
  • Multiple births (twins or triplets)
  • Babies who need respiratory support
  • Low-birthweight babies (weighting less than 5.5 pounds)

The Sally and John Francis Tanner Neonatal ICU at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton supports the maternity centers at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton and Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica, as well as other regional hospitals as necessary.

Specialized care for our smallest patients

Our level  III NICU is built more than five decades of clinical research and practice. The specialized team of neonatologists, peditricians and nurses advance care to give tiny patients their best chance at a healthy life.

It's never easy having a baby that's in the NICU. It's even harder when that ICU is miles away from home or the hospital where you delivered. The Sally and John Francis Tanner Neonatal ICU is conveniently located in Carrollton, so you can be part of your baby's care and bond as a family in their earliest days.
