Tanner Unveils New Expansion at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton

Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton celebrated the completion of its new expansion with an exclusive open house on Feb. 17 to give community partners, local leaders and hospital team members a first look at the new state-of-the-art space.

The nearly 97,000-square-foot addition, located above the hospital’s emergency department, is designed to improve patient care and enhance access to a host of services closer to home.

“The opening of the new tower will provide added resources and services, which will greatly benefit our patients,” said Ben Camp, MD, executive vice president and chief medical officer of Tanner Health. “It will allow us to grow our surgical services capabilities, as well as multiple medical and surgical sub-specialty services across our clinical programs. This is a needed and welcomed advancement for our community.”

In addition to more space, the tower also features dozens of large, spacious exam rooms equipped with technology like Bedside from Tanner MyChart to give patients real-time access to manage their stay and Robbie AI, a fall-prevention system that can predict and prevent patient harm through AI-powered monitoring.

"This expansion is about improving the day-to-day experience for our patients and our team members,” said Tosha Parham, RN, BSN, a nurse manager at Tanner. “With more space and updated technology, we’ll be able to respond more quickly, provide more personalized attention and create a calmer, more supportive environment for healing. It’s an investment in the people we serve and the nurses and staff who care for them every day."

The facility also features an internal pneumatic tube system for care teams to rapidly transport lab specimens, medications and blood products throughout the hospital, enabling faster, more coordinated treatment.

“We are not only expanding our space to provide better patient care,” said Jerry Morris, senior vice president of hospital operations at Tanner and administrator for Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton. “We’re also investing to ensure future access for families and generations to come.”
