Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton has earned Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Disease-Specific Care Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement (THKR) and Disease-Specific Care Certification for Spine Surgery by demonstrating continuous compliance with rigorous performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a healthcare organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.
These disease-specific care certifications recognize healthcare organizations that provide clinical programs across the continuum of care for osteoarthritis of the hip, osteoarthritis of the knee and chronic spine disease requiring surgical intervention. Joint Commission evaluates how organizations use clinical outcomes and performance measures to improve care while educating and preparing patients and their caregivers for discharge.
Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton underwent a rigorous, unannounced on-site review in December 2025. During the visit, Joint Commission reviewers evaluated the hospital’s compliance with certification standards, including leadership and program management, coordination of multidisciplinary care, use of data to drive quality improvement, patient education through Joint Academy and Spine Academy and the delivery of evidence-based, patient-centered care. Reviewers also conducted on-site observations and interviews. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts, providers, measurement experts and patients.
