Reporting Suspected COVID-19 Cases

Call your local or state health department. In Georgia, you should call 1-866-782-4584; in Alabama, call 1-800-338-8374.

Guidance for Public Health Personnel Evaluating Suspected Cases of COVID-19

Protecting yourself while giving patients the care they need is one of the greatest challenges for Coronavirus 2019. Whenever possible, screen over the phone, by text or videoconference. When physical contact is required. Make sure you’re wearing the proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

If the person can safely remain in their home and limit exposing others, encourage them to do so and provide them with the CDC’s guidance on home care and protecting others (.pdf).

Guidance for EMS Staff Responding to COVID-19 Cases

Emergency medical services — as well as fire-rescue personnel, law enforcement and other first responders — may encounter exposure to Coronavirus 2019 in their work. Be familiar with ways to reduce your risk of exposure.
