Nutrition and Exercise Education Class Helps You Get Started On the Road To a ‘Better U’

In this day and age, it seems like everyone is trying to find the best way to get healthy.

And while there are a lot of different routes to take, sometimes it can be hard to know where to start.

That’s where Food Talk: Better U comes in. In partnership with University of Georgia Extension Carroll County, Tanner’s Get Healthy, Live Well is hosting a free nutrition and exercise education class offering participants an opportunity to learn easy, fun exercises, watch cooking demos and taste healthy recipes.

Participants also receive free incentives at each session that promote healthy eating and an active lifestyle.

“The Food Talk: Better U program is perfect for any individual looking to learn more about nutrition and physical activity,” said Chase Cooper, SNAP-Ed program assistant with UGA Extension Carroll County. “Over the four weeks, we go over the topics of portion control, decreasing the amount of sugar-sweetened beverages, making small healthy ‘shifts’ in everyday food choices, and physical activity you can do at home. We’re excited to partner with Tanner’s Get Healthy, Live Well to serve our community with this valuable program.”

The four-week class series begins April 15 and runs every Friday from 9-11 a.m. in Carrollton.

“We’re excited to partner with the UGA Extension office in Carroll County to offer this class to our community,” said Gail Downing, nutrition program coordinator for Get Healthy, Live Well. “We know that many people are looking for help getting started on their journey to better health, and this class will provide them with the tools they need to make lasting changes.”
