Helen Scharko, MD, Joins Tanner Primary Care of Roanoke

Helen Scharko, MD, a family medicine physician with expertise in emergency care, is joining Tanner Primary Care of Roanoke.
Dr. Scharko is board-certified in family medicine. She earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine at Birmingham. She completed her internship at Baptist Health in Montgomery, Alabama, and her residency at St. Vincent’s East in Birmingham, Alabama, both of which provided her with a strong base in community health. Dr. Scharko also holds a master’s degree in rural sociology from the Rural Medicine Program, a joint program between UASOM and Auburn University in Alabama.
At Tanner Primary Care of Roanoke, Dr. Scharko joins a patient care team that specializes in chronic disease management and early disease screenings. Also on staff are Russell Peterson, DO; Michael Robinson, DO; and April Harrod, NP-C.
