Placenta Donations

Families delivering at Tanner can now give the “gift of healing” by donating birth tissue — including placenta, umbilical cord and amniotic fluid.

Why should I donate my placenta?

Every donation is used to make a difference in someone's life. To offer the program, Tanner Maternity Centers in Carrollton and Villa Rica have partnered with telaGen, an organization specializing in birth tissue donations. telaGen works with families, maternity care facilities and birth tissue processing centers to facilitate donations, which can be used in a wide range of treatments and advanced therapies.

How are placenta donations used?

From wound care to tissue repair, birth tissue is used in a range of advanced treatments and recovery therapies, including:

  • Wound care: burns, non-healing and diabetic
  • Orthopedics: nerve wrap repair, ligament repair and dual wound repair
  • Surgery: breast reconstruction, hernias and colon resection repair
  • Ophthalmology: corneal abrasions, chemical eye burns and chronic dry eye

How can I donate my placenta?

Donating your placenta at Tanner is safe and does not affect the pregnant parent or baby.  The partnership with teleGen makes donating as easy as possible for parents and families. If you’d like to donate, speak with your maternity care team, who will provide information and support.

Managing High Blood Pressure During Pregnancy
Managing High Blood Pressure During Pregnancy

Both men and women can suffer from high blood pressure. While it can be managed, it is still a serious condition. For women who are pregnant, high blood pressure can be a life-threatening condition for both her and her unborn child.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is a condition of brain damage and growth problems. It is often misdiagnosed — or sometimes missed completely — preventing children from receiving the care, which could improve their lives.
