Villa Rica City Hospital joined the Tanner Health System family in 1985, becoming Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica and serving northeastern Carroll County, western Douglas County and southeastern Paulding County. In October 2003, Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica unveiled a brand new $17 million facility that features a beautiful birthing center, an expanded imaging department with MRI, high speed CT and PET scanning, a six-bed ICU, a 22-bed Medical/Surgical unit, 12 postpartum rooms and an expanded Emergency Department, all designed for patient privacy and the highest quality of health care. The 25-bed critical access hospital recently underwent an extensive $7.5 million renovation and expansion and offers its community inpatient as well as outpatient medical services including a 24-hour Emergency Department, same-day surgery, lithotripsy, and a wide range of outpatient services.
Willowbrooke at Tanner, which opened in April 2009, is a new 52-bed behavioral health facility located in Villa Rica adjacent to the campus of Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica. The first new behavioral health facility to be built in Georgia in over 20 years, Willowbrooke at Tanner offers inpatient and outpatient services for a variety of behavioral problems, including depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactive disorder, schizophrenia, psychosomatic disorders, chronic pain syndrome and substance abuse.
