Meet Our Staff

Christopher Arant, MD
Christopher Arant, MD

Dr. Arant is board-certified in cardiology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as board eligible in interventional cardiology. Dr. Arant received his medical degree from the Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon. He completed his residency and fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Shands at the University of Florida. He also completed an additional fellowship in interventional cardiology and endovascular interventions for peripheral vascular disease at Shands.

Onaje Greene, MD, FACC, FASNC
Onaje Greene, MD, FACC, FASNC

Dr. Greene is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as in cardiovascular and nuclear cardiology subspecialties by the American Board of Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Greene earned his medical degree from the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore and a fellowship in cardiology at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC.

Shazib Khawaja, MD, FACC, FSCAI
Shazib Khawaja, MD, FACC, FSCAI, FSVM

Dr. Khawaja is board-certified by the American Board of Vascular Medicine as an endovascular specialist and the American Board of Internal Medicine in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Subspecialty. Prior to moving to west Georgia, Dr. Khawaja served as director of the Cardiac Cath Lab and was chief of Interventional Cardiology at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL. He is currently active as an adjunct professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology at the University of South Alabama and serves as medical director of interventional cardiology at Tanner Health System.

William Rogers, MD, FACC
William Rogers, MD, FACC

Dr. Rogers joined Tanner’s medical staff in 1983. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, where he also completed his internship, residency and fellowship in cardiology. Dr. Rogers is medical director of the John and Barbara Tanner Cardiac Rehab Center at the Tanner Heart and Vascular Center, and he is an affiliate member of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American Heart Association.

Dennis Boswell, PA-C
Dennis Boswell, PA-C

Dennis Boswell is a certified physician’s assistant. He earned his degree as a physician’s assistant from the Medical College of Georgia and is certified in primary care and surgery.

Debra Fikes, APRN-BC
Debra Fikes, APRN-BC

Fikes is a board-certified advanced practice registered nurse and a graduate of Auburn University. She has master’s degrees in nursing from Emory University and in social work from the University of Alabama.

Beth Schmitz, RN, MSN, NP-C
Beth Schmitz, RN, MSN, NP-C

Schmitz is a certified nurse practitioner and earned her master’s degree in nursing from the Kennesaw State University primary care nurse practitioner program in Kennesaw, GA.
