Hospice Care

Volunteering

Hospice volunteers play an important role, helping Tanner Hospice Care make a difference in the lives of hospice patients and their families.

Hospice care is a special type of care created to provide sensitivity and support for people in the final phase of a terminal illness. Hospice also gives support to family members as they prepare for a loved one’s loss. Tanner Hospice Care enables patients to carry on an alert, pain-free life and to manage other symptoms so that their last days may be spent in comfort.

Many hospice volunteers are the relatives or friends of former hospice patients who experienced the value of hospice firsthand. Others simply want to make a difference.

Tanner Hospice Care serves patients in the following west Georgia counties:

  • Carroll

  • Coweta

  • Douglas

  • Haralson

  • Heard

  • Paulding

To qualify to assist in patient care, volunteers must apply online and go through a rigorous training program. To learn more about volunteering or to request a paper application, call 770.214.2355.
