The Roy Richards, Sr. Cancer Center offers a Cancer Support Group for anyone, male or female, who has cancer of any type or who has fought cancer in the past. Meetings are on the fourth Thursday of each month from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton in Classroom 4. Mind Over Cancer is a Tanner support group emphasizing mindful coping strategies throughout the cancer journey! Research shows that if you mentally prepare yourself to handle cancer treatment by managing stress and anxiety, you can improve your quality of life and become an active participant in your own recovery. Based on "Mindfullness-Based Cancer Recover: A Step-by-Step MBSR Approach to help You Cope With Treatment and Reclaim Your Life." Meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of every month at 9:30 a.m. in the conference room of the Roy Richards, Sr. Cancer Center at 165 Clinic Avenue in Carrollton. “I Survived Cancer. What Now?” is a monthly support group facilitated by Tanner Chaplain Joannah Cook. The group meets on the last Thursday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. at Tanner Medical Center/ Carrollton in Classroom 5 of the Health Education and Wellness Learning Center. For many cancer survivors, acclimating to their "new normal" can often be challenging and even disorienting. The life of a survivor has been indelibly marked by his or her experience of coping with disease, not only physically and mentally, but also emotionally, socially and spiritually. At Tanner, we understand that our patients can benefit from meeting others with common experiences who are shaping new lives for themselves. The Multiple Sclerosis Support Group meets from 2 to 3 p.m. in Classroom 3 of the Health Education and Wellness Learning Center at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton on the 2nd Sunday of each month. Those living with Multiple Sclerosis are encouraged to attend these support group meetings. The meetings will alternate between a discussion format and educational format with quest speakers.
