Volunteering at Tanner Health System

You Can Make a Difference

Tanner Hospice Care volunteerAt Tanner Health System, our volunteers are one of our greatest treasures. Each activity to which volunteers dedicate their time has a direct and positive impact on both our patients and community. By volunteering, you are providing not only a valuable service but giving the most precious gift you have to the community — your time.

In 2014, more than 300 volunteers donated more than 60,000 hours to help out at Tanner. Volunteers are needed for the auxiliaries on our hospital campuses in Carrollton, Villa Rica and Bremen — each serving the needs of its own hospital and community — as well as for Tanner Hospice Care, in Pastoral Care as a hospital chaplain and for the various healthy initiatives of Get Healthy, Live Well.

Becoming a part of the healthcare team at Tanner can make a difference in someone’s life. If you are looking for a rewarding way to spend your retirement years, feel you want to give something back to your community by helping others or want exposure as a student to the healthcare field, you have found the right place.

Volunteer as a Chaplain

A hospital stay can be a frightening, anxious and lonely experience. Tanner calls on a number of professional and lay clergy to provide spiritual and emotional support to our patients, as well as to their families and friends.

If you’re interested in extending your ministry to the patient care setting, call 770.812.9461.

Volunteer at Tanner Hospice Care

Tanner Hospice Care is our community’s only locally based, nonprofit hospice care provider. Hospice volunteers play an important role, making a difference in the lives of hospice patients and their families.

Many hospice volunteers are the relatives or friends of former hospice patients. They have experienced the value of hospice firsthand. Others simply want to make a difference at this stage of a neighbor’s life.

To qualify to assist in patient care, volunteers must apply. A training program and background check are required, since the work involves close engagement in a patient’s home.

To learn more about volunteering and to request an application, call 770.214.2355.

Volunteer at a Tanner Hospital

The smiling faces of Tanner’s auxiliary members and volunteers can be seen throughout the hospital. Some assignments have a great deal of patient contact and interaction, while others have very limited patient contact. Auxilians and volunteers serve in multiple sites at each facility in a variety of roles. Whether serving at a hospital’s information desks, in our gift shops or in the transportation office, volunteers brighten the lives of our patients and are an important part of Tanner’s healthcare team.

There are volunteer opportunities for adults, college students, high school students and groups, as well as short-term opportunities, throughout Tanner’s healthcare facilities. So, whether you have a few hours to give or are available for a longer period, you’ll be able to make a difference.
