Nizam-Uddin Khaja, MD, Expands Access to Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine at Willowbrooke Psychiatric Center



Nizam-Uddin Khaja, MDNizam-Uddin Khaja, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist and addiction medicine specialist, is expanding the region’s access to treatment for emotional, behavioral and addictive disorders.

Dr. Khaja has more than 20 years of experience in behavioral health care and has previously served in both academic and clinical leadership roles, including as a clinical associate professor at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and as medical director and chief medical officer at Highland Rivers Health’s Polk Recovery and Wellness Center in Cedartown. He earned his medical degree from Siddhartha Medical College in Vijayawada, India, and completed his internship and residency at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City.

At Willowbrooke Psychiatric Center, Dr. Khaja works with patients age 18 and older, offering psychiatric evaluations, psychotherapy, medication management and interventional treatments for mental health and addiction issues, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and trauma-related conditions, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression and more.

Willowbrooke Psychiatric Center also has child and adolescent specialists who treat patients, age 5 to 17, for emotional and behavioral issues in a separate office.

Willowbrooke Counseling Center provides comprehensive outpatient counseling and therapies for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. Willowbrooke at Tanner provides inpatient, partial hospitalization and outpatient treatment for children, adolescents and adults.
