Welcome to the twentieth anniversary Magnolia Ball, “License to Thrill” benefiting the construction of a new emergency department and an expansion of surgical services at the Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton campus. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 1 on the grounds of the Richards family estate in Carrollton, Georgia. We appreciate the support of so many community partners and are excited about this year’s James Bond theme that will give us the “License to Thrill” and celebrate in style. This year’s co-chairs, Lisa Hayden and Kirby Butler, have many fabulous new features planned that give promise to a spectacular twentieth anniversary event.
2010 Magnolia Ball Project
This year's Magnolia Ball will provide funding to assist with the construction of a new emergency department and an expansion of surgical services at the Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton campus.
At any given moment a senior is experiencing chest pains, a child is injured in a fall, a couple is seriously hurt in a car accident. And at any given moment, there is a need for high quality, emergency and surgical services that saves lives of citizens in the west Georgia and east Alabama area.
The new Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton Emergency Department will double its treatment capacity and offer the latest, state-of-the-art technologies to allow Tanner to serve the emergency healthcare needs of our growing community.
The surgical services expansion will add four new operating rooms, allowing 4,000 additional patients to be treated annually. The new surgical services will offer state-of-the-art, minimally invasive surgical suites, fully integrated with the latest technology, that help patients to get back to their lives more quickly.
By supporting this year’s Magnolia Ball, you are helping to provide life-saving emergency and surgical treatments for our community.
Tom and Cornelia Richards – 2010 Magnolia Ball Honorary Chairs
Tom and Cornelia Richards are serving as Honorary Chairs for the 2010 Magnolia Ball.
Tom and Cornelia Richards are serving as the 2010 Magnolia Ball Honorary Chairs. Tom and Cornelia met in Atlanta and moved to Carrollton over 30 years ago. They have been married for 43 years and have two daughters and three grandchildren. Tom was born in the old Carrollton Clinic and remembers his father being involved in fundraising for the old Tanner hospital. Cornelia is a founding Pink Lady. With a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Atlanta College of Art, she has played a role each year decorating for the Magnolia Ball. Tom and Cornelia were both heavily involved in the first Magnolia Ball, held in 1991. She served as vice-chair of the Creative Services Pyramid and chair of the Entertainment and Band Committee. He served on the Sponsorship Solicitation and Site Preparation Committees. The honoree’s love of gardening and vested interest in cardiology services led them to support a Quiet Reflection Courtyard, located outside the entrance to Tanner Heart and Vascular Center. The Richards’ longstanding commitment to Tanner and dedication to improving the health of our community make them fitting honorary chairs for this 20th anniversary Magnolia Ball.
