Indigent Care

Tanner Health System provides more than $32 million per year in uncompensated care, which includes charity healthcare provided to those who are uninsured or underinsured. The provision of charity care is a growing concern for Tanner, and will continue to have a great impact on the health system into the future. Therefore, we are continually seeking sources of funding to assist with indigent care.

Various grassroots fundraising events in the community are held each year with proceeds benefiting indigent care in various areas of healthcare. For example, West Georgia Ambulance coordinates an annual yard sale to benefit the Indigent Mammogram Fund in memory of Ruby C. Green, a paramedic who passed away from breast cancer. A number of civic organizations, businesses and churches also coordinate community fundraising events with proceeds earmarked for indigent care.

Thank you for considering a contribution to support indigent care and Tanner’s vision to continually improve healthcare for all the people of west Georgia.
