2006 Hospice Holiday Food Sale Raises over $21,000
The annual Tanner Hospice Care Food Sale on November 18, 2006, was a tremendous success, with a record-setting $21,000 raised. All proceeds from the sale will help Tanner Hospice Care continue providing care to the area’s terminally ill, regardless of their ability to pay. Truly a community-wide effort, the annual food sale receives multi-faceted support.
Chefs and Shoppers
More than 600 “chefs” throughout west Georgia volunteered their time and talent to prepare food for the sale. Over 500 homemade dishes, from casseroles and smoked turkeys to fresh breads, soups and desserts, were offered for sale. These individual “chefs”, many from local churches, organizations, civic clubs, and businesses, were critical to the success of the event. As usual, many shoppers were lined up early to have first choice, and almost every dish was sold by the end of the food sale.
Carrollton High School
Nancy Casaday’s healthcare science class at Carrollton High School not only helped with setting up and transporting food donations at the sale, but they also coordinated a fundraising effort at the school again this year. Through a loose-change drive, the students, faculty and staff of CHS donated more than $5,600 to support this year’s food sale.
To all those who work to make the annual food sale a resounding success, Tanner Hospice Care thanks you. Your help is greatly appreciated!
