Temple-Inland Supports Construction of Tanner Heart Center
Robert Young, President of Temple-Inland Land and Timber, presented a check for $75,000 to Tanner Medical Foundation in support of the major expansion and renovation currently underway at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton. Temple-Inland has pledged a total of $150,000 to support the construction of Tanner Heart Center.
In accepting the contribution, Denise Taylor, Tanner Medical Foundation President/CEO, says, “This gift is representative of the great community support Tanner continues to receive from businesses, individuals and organizations in west Georgia. We are very appreciative of the many people who have chosen to play an important role in the construction of Tanner Heart Center through their gifts of time, talent and resources.”
The $42 million expansion project will add 95,000 square feet of new space to Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton and 12,000 square feet of existing space will be renovated. The expansion includes the construction of Tanner Heart Center to house all of Tanner’s cardiac services on the Carrollton campus. The expansion will also provide a new educational center, a new entrance to the W. Steve Worthy Maternity Center, a new atrium lobby, and a new parking deck. Construction is expected to take 18 to 24 months.
“We appreciate Temple-Inland’s support of expanded healthcare for this area,” says Loy Howard, President and CEO of Tanner Health System. “With support from community partners like Temple-Inland, this ambitious construction project at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton will allow us to continue to provide high quality healthcare for the people of west Georgia and east Alabama,” Howard says.
