Willowbrooke at Tanner Establishing Outpatient Services in Cartersville

Posted Date: 11/14/2012

Willowbrooke at Tanner has expanded its outpatient partial hospitalization programs for adults, adolescents and children to Cartersville by establishing an office located across the street from Cartersville Medical Center’s emergency department entrance on Joe Frank Harris Parkway.

Partial hospitalization is a treatment bridge between inpatient and outpatient care. Presently available in Carrollton and Villa Rica, Willowbrooke at Tanner’s partial hospitalization program is designed for patients who maintain themselves in the community at a minimum-to-moderate level of functioning and present no imminent harm to themselves or others, as well as those who are making the transition from inpatient care back into the community.

“This is the kind of service that makes a huge difference in people’s lives,” said Wayne Senfeld, Ed.S, LPC, senior vice president of business development and behavioral health for Tanner. “This gives people the ability to rebuild relationships with those they love and get back to a healthy life. We’re working to expand these services to help more people, even as behavioral health programs in Georgia have diminished as a result of the state’s difficult economic position.”

Willowbrooke at Tanner is a division of Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica and a part of Carrollton-based Tanner Health System, providing inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services for children and adults. Willowbrooke at Tanner’s services include inpatient care at the service’s 52-bed inpatient facility in Villa Rica, which opened in 2009 as the first new inpatient behavioral health facility built in Georgia in at least 20 years, as well as a range of outpatient treatment options to provide a continuum of behavioral health for members of the communities Tanner serves.

Willowbrooke at Tanner also provides free, confidential mental health assessments through the emergency departments at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton, Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica, Higgins General Hospital in Bremen, Piedmont Newnan Hospital and, since July, at Cartersville Medical Center. Assessments also are available by calling Willowbrooke at Tanner’s 24-hour help line at 770.836.9551.

“People often experience struggles and difficulties related to their mental health,” said Senfeld. “Willowbrooke at Tanner helps people get back to a healthy, productive life.”

Once the partial hospitalization program begins, according Senfeld, Willowbrooke at Tanner will evaluate additional services and programs that might be extended to Cartersville.

“By expanding partial hospitalization services—and, hopefully, more services later—into Cartersville, we’re providing a more convenient place where people in the area can turn for the care they need,” he said.
