Posted Date: 4/4/2012
Loy Howard, president and CEO of Tanner Health System, has been appointed to the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals Board of Directors.
As a member of the alliance’s board, Howard will share his knowledge on current issues affecting Georgia’s community not-for-profit hospitals, as state lawmakers deliberate on community benefit, hospital tax and policy issues that impact Georgians’ access to care.
“This is a tremendous honor, not only for me, but for Tanner and our local community,” said Howard. “I look forward to serving the alliance and working with state and regional leaders to improve community hospitals’ ability to serve their patients.”
With the General Assembly in full swing, state lawmakers are expected to tackle a number of issues that could impact budgets and healthcare reform measures taken by the state’s nonprofit community hospitals, Howard explained.
The alliance works for the interests of community not-for-profit hospitals across the state of Georgia. One of its main roles is to push for the enactment of sound laws, rules and regulations affecting community hospitals. The alliance conducts and disseminates research on important health care issues and it shares ideas that improve Georgia's healthcare delivery systems.
