Atlanta Business Chronicle: Tanner Health System Among Metro Atlanta’s Top 10 ‘Best Places to Work’

For people in the market for a job, some of the best places to work in metro Atlanta are right here in west Georgia.

For a fifth time, Tanner Health System has been named one of the region’s top 10 “Best Places to Work” among large employers by the Atlanta Business Chronicle – Atlanta’s leading business publication. Tanner previously earned the distinction in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009. For 2011, Tanner ranked ninth. With more than 2,500 employees, Tanner is Carroll County’s second-largest employer behind Carroll County Schools.

Each year, the Atlanta Business Chronicle, in partnership with Quantum Workplace, surveys the metro area's employers to find Atlanta's best places to work.

This year, 482 companies and organizations were nominated. Quantum then surveyed employees at participating companies and organizations, using analytical tools to rank the top 100 employers in three categories: large employer, medium-sized employer and small employer.

“This is a very big honor for us,” said Loy Howard, president and CEO of Tanner Health System. “It speaks directly to the culture of Tanner – to our focus on making this a place that people want to be, including our patients and our team. This survey isn’t based on what we told the Atlanta Business Chronicle; it’s based on what our employees told them. They make this a great place to work, and I’m glad to know they feel the same way I do about Tanner.”

For healthcare providers like Tanner, Howard said, establishing a reputation as a great place to work is important in advancing patient care.

“We are working every day to attract the best professionals in our industry,” said Howard. “Attracting and retaining the best professionals is a way we can ensure that our patients are getting the best care. Honors like this mean that we’re doing right by our employees and, in turn, by our patients.”

Other Carrollton-based companies made the list as well, including Southwire Company as a large employer and Greenway Medical Technologies as a medium-sized employer.
