AmVets Post 99 Annual Golf Tournament for Charity Raises $6,500 for Tanner Hospice Care

Posted Date: 7/16/2010

The AmVets Post 99 Annual Golf Tournament for Charity, benefiting Tanner Hospice Care, was held on Saturday, June 26. For the fourth consecutive year, AmVets members voted for Tanner Hospice Care as their charity beneficiary, and this year they presented Hospice with a check for $6,500.

Tanner Hospice Care provides sensitive support for people in the final stages of a terminal illness. Hospice also gives support to family members as they prepare for a loved one’s loss. Tanner Hospice Care enables patients to carry on an alert, pain-free life and manage other symptoms so that their last days may be spent in comfort.

AmVets_2010_check“I am so appreciative of all who came to support our tournament and Tanner Hospice Care this year,” said Melanie Simpson, office manager, AmVets Post 99. “Tanner Hospice Care is close to everyone’s heart, and it has been a blessing to many of our AmVets members and participants in our Golf Tournament for Charity.”

AmVets is one of the nation’s leading veteran’s service organizations and is made up of men and women who have served their country in the armed forces. Members pride themselves on giving to the country and the community. Mike Pruett, AmVets Golf Tournament chairman, organized the fifth annual AmVets Golf Tournament for Charity, held at the Lion Golf Club in Bremen. This year’s tournament was host to 13 teams. Golfers participated in the tournament and enjoyed an awards banquet including a BBQ dinner and raffle at Post 99 immediately following the event.

“Knowing that these golfers came out again this year to support Tanner Hospice Care means so much,” said Debbie Brock, director of Tanner Hospice Care. “With the economy’s downturn, we are seeing more patients in need. Donations like this one from AmVets Post 99 allow Tanner Hospice care to provide services to anyone who needs them, regardless of their ability to pay. We greatly appreciate all who supported Tanner Hospice Care through this year’s event.”
