Tanner Cardiologist on U.S. News and World Report List of Top Doctors

Shazib Khawaja, MD, board-certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular medicine, endovascular medicine and vascular medicine with Tanner Heart & Vascular Specialists, part of Tanner Medical Group, and the cardiology medical operations leader for Tanner Health System, has been ranked among the top 1 percent of physicians in the nation for 2012 by U.S. News and World Report.
One of America’s leading weekly news magazines, U.S. News and World Report is heralded for its valuable rankings that help readers make educated decisions in a wide number of areas, including education, finance, transportation and health care, among others.
The U.S. News and World Report list of the top physicians is based on nominations by their peers. More than 250,000 doctors nominated the top physicians in their specialties and in related specialties for the U.S. News and World Report list.
This is the second consecutive year that Dr. Khawaja has been included in the publication’s rankings.

Prior to joining Tanner, Dr. Khawaja served as director of the cardiac cath lab and chief of interventional cardiology at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. His current academic affiliation includes clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of South Alabama.
