Amy Dodson, DO, Joins West Georgia Healthcare for Women, Tanner Medical Staff

Posted Date: 2/22/2012

Amy Dodson, DOAmy Dodson, DO, FACOG, a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, has joined West Georgia Healthcare for Women, PC, and the medical staff of Tanner Health System.

Dr. Dodson decided to pursue a career as a gynecologist and obstetrician in middle school, when she was assigned to do a project on the female reproductive system.

“It sounds strange, but I was fascinated,” she said. “I knew, right then, that this was what I wanted to do. I wanted to help women understand their reproductive health, and I wanted to meet their expectations, even as they change over time.”

Dr. Dodson earned her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa., where she completed her internship. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, Pa. Dr. Dodson previously served as a partner and OB/GYN physician with Women First Specialists in Chicago.

She and her husband moved to west Georgia for the more peaceful life that this area promises.

“We have family nearby, in Atlanta, and where we were was just so hectic. It’s very nice here, very quiet. And the great working relationship that the other providers have at West Georgia Healthcare for Women and the medical staff at Tanner make this a very inviting place to practice medicine.”

At West Georgia Healthcare for Women, PC, she joins the practice of David Helton, MD; Richard Colditz, MD; and Shannon Huff, MD. For more information, call 770.214.2121 or visit www.wghfw.com.
