Today, many people participate in athletics. Some are professionals whose physical performance is their livelihood, some are students who pursue sports along with academics, but most are avid amateurs who participate in sports for recreation and physical fitness. Despite having different skill levels, different motivations and different goals, all athletes have a shared need—the need for a fully integrated, comprehensive sports medicine program that can be tailored to each athlete’s goals.
Unfortunately, injuries that occur during or related to athletic participation or competition have become common among today’s active population. At Tanner Ortho and Spine Center, our philosophy is to provide all athletes—from those just trying to keep active and stay fit to professional competitors—with the same high quality level of care.
In addition to providing specialized assessment and treatment for sports-related injuries, the Carrollton Orthopaedics team of orthopedists and sports medicine fellowship-trained surgeons is also actively involved in educating our area’s athletes, coaches and parents about injury prevention and recognition. We believe that educational programming is an integral factor to our success and by providing programs to the community which teach proper strength building, flexibility, conditioning, endurance and training techniques, we can help to minimize the risk of injury occurrence.
Through working with local colleges, schools and community venues, the sports medicine specialists at Tanner Ortho and Spine Center and Carrollton Orthopaedic Clinic help athletes to better understand how to care for their bodies before, during and after participating in athletics.
