Prior to Your Surgery
What to do prior to surgery
- Meeting with your surgeon - Tell your surgeon if you have a history of staph infections, including Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), chronic skin conditions or other recurrent skin infections such as boils. Tell your surgeon if you or anyone in your family has diabetes or high blood sugar. You will be scheduled for a preoperative visit with a nurse to obtain your medical history and begin pre- and post-operative education. This visit many take one or two hours.
- Admissions / preregistration - Registering for services-to-be-rendered is strongly encouraged and enables our staff to learn more about you before any type of treatment is administered. You may register on the day of your visit or preregister for certain services in order to expedite this step upon arrival. Registration takes place in Admissions, which is located at all Tanner Health System facilities.
- Pre-surgical testing and teaching - Please report to the hospital at your scheduled appointment time with your doctor's orders and a list of any medications you are currently taking. If you do not have a scheduled appointment, you may receive your pre-admission assessment over the phone.
