Magnolia Ball

Tanner Medical Foundation’s annual Magnolia Ball originated in 1991 to benefit Tanner Health System’s non-profit regional healthcare system. Since then, each black-tie ball has had a unique theme and consisted of an elegant catered dinner, live music, dancing, a live and silent auction and more.

The 2013 Magnolia Ball

Santorini, the Greek island steeped in myth and poetic beauty, was the inspiration for the 2013 Magnolia Ball, “Apodrasi se Santorini” (Escape to Santorini.) The 23rd annual Magnolia Ball was held Saturday, April 27 on the grounds of the Richards’ family estate and featured an auction, dinner and dancing.

The 2013 Magnolia Ball raised almost $500,000 to help fund a new comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation unit at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton. The new rehabilitation unit will guide patients on their journey back from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, cardiac complications, multiple sclerosis and other conditions requiring them to re-learn how to perform everyday tasks.

Community involvement

  • More than 650 guests regularly attend this annual fundraising gala, which has become a celebrated tradition in west Georgia.
  • More than 200 volunteers work together to present the annual Magnolia Ball, assisting with every detail from invitations to auction preparations and decorations.
  • More than 350 individuals and organizations support the ball through sponsorships, cash donations, donated auction items and in-kind services.

Community generosity

Proceeds from that first Magnolia Ball in 1991 assisted with the purchase of equipment for Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton’s cardiac catheterization lab. Since then, each Magnolia Ball has raised important and much-needed funds that have been used to upgrade or expand many of Tanner’s services and to purchase important high-tech equipment. The 2012 Magnolia Ball "Moonlight at Tiffany's" marked the third consecutive year of raising funds for the construction of the new emergency department and surgical services expansion at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton.
