Music therapy is an established healthcare technique that uses music to address the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of patients and individuals of all ages. Tanner Health System’s Harmony for Healing music therapy program was developed out of a desire to help caregivers, patients and their loved ones cope with the stressful times that often accompany a hospital stay. The Steinway grand piano used in many Harmony for Healing performances was donated anonymously in 2008.
Tanner’s Harmony for Healing program has hosted a number of fine musicians, including performances from Clemson University, the University of West Georgia, local high schools and churches as well as local musicians who graciously share their time and talents. Several talented, local musicians perform at least once a month at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton. Learn more about them now. The program is funded by generous donations to Tanner Medical Foundation, with a goal being to eventually hire a full-time music therapist.

The Physician Musician Showcase, held annually in November, gives musically inclined Tanner physicians the opportunity to share their talents.
