A physician referral is necessary for patients taking diabetes education classes at Tanner Health Source, and all diabetes management services are offered by appointment only.
Most people who have a confirmed diagnosis of diabetes will find that their health insurance plan or Medicare/Medicaid coverage covers most, if not all, diabetes management classes.
Recent classes available to both the public and employees have included:
- The Diabetes Education Series - If you have been diagnosed with diabetes or have elevated blood glucose results, this seven-week diabetes education class is for you. During this class, you will learn more about how to control diabetes rather than allowing it to control you. Additionally, you will learn the basics of monitoring your blood glucose, healthy eating, exercise and more. The cost of the series is $35.
Diabetes Support Group
The Diabetes Support Group meets on the first Monday of the month from October to May at 7 p.m. in the Health Education and Wellness Learning Center at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton. Topics vary each month.
