Pianist Jan Watts performs Broadway tunes, golden oldies, kids’ classics, decade music, and well-known television and movie themes as part of Tanner Health System’s Harmony for Healing music therapy program. Watts began piano lessons at age seven, and began her first church pianist job as a pre-teen. She volunteers her musical talents at several venues in the community, is part of the Oak Grove Baptist Church choir and a new member of the Carroll Ringers hand bell choir. Watts, a 36-year resident of Carroll County, holds advanced degrees and certifications in mathematics and secondary education and is a retired high school math teacher. Her other interests include aerobics, scrabble, bridge and spending time with her four precious grandchildren. All Harmony for Healing performances are held in the John H. Burson III, MD, Atrium on the first floor of Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton, facing Dixie Street, and are free to the public. Unless otherwise noted, all performers are from the west Georgia area. The music therapy program is funded through gifts to Tanner Medical Foundation. Proceeds are used to continue Harmony for Healing performances with the goal of hiring a full-time music therapist.
