Support and Stability
Did You Know?
Help your child deal with schoolyard bullies by first seeking help for your child from the school staff. Tell your child that the bullying is not his fault and practice with him what to say when confronted. Coach your child to try avoiding the bully, when possible, advises the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. You can also suggest that school officials begin a program to combat bullying. Successful programs include peer mediation, conflict resolution and anger management.
