Tai chi, a form of exercise that emphasizes slow, controlled movements, appears to help the immune system in older adults. Researchers at the University of California-Los Angeles found that older adults who regularly did tai chi had a better response to the shingles vaccine. About a third of people older than 60 will develop shingles, caused by the same virus that triggers chickenpox in children.
Eating Well
Changes that come with age should influence your diet. Older adults need plenty of protein to maintain muscle mass. You should also make sure you get enough vitamin D.

Most older adults - even those with diabetes and heart disease - can and should spend some time every day improving their fitness.
