One of the most technologically advanced areas of Tanner’s healthcare network is in the field of cardiac services.

Each of the Tanner facilities boasts the latest in technology and capabilities, designed to meet the cardiac needs of our residents. Our cardiac care includes prevention and early detection programs, emergency care, advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities plus cardiac rehabilitation.

The state of Georgia announced that Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton has been selected as one of 10 medical facilities in Georgia to perform percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), also known as angioplasty. These facilities are among 25 hospitals that recently applied for permission to perform these services. As part of the requirement, Tanner has formed a partnership with another hospital that performs open-heart procedures.

Residents of west Georgia and east Alabama will have access to services that were previously not available in our area. PCI can be used to treat stable and unstable coronary artery disease (CAD) and to open blocked arteries during a heart attack. The quicker a patient is able to receive relief from a blocked artery, the more likely he will survive cardiac arrest.
